Fly NetJets to the Kentucky Derby

Experience Southern Charm at the “Run for the Roses®”
This year marks the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby. Starting with the philanthropic Kentucky Oaks race and ending with the “Run for the Roses,” the Kentucky Derby is a staple of American culture. And because of its popularity among our Owners, ensuring an exceptional travel experience to Louisville has become a NetJets tradition.

Private Flights to Louisville

The large majority of private flights to Louisville use the Atlantic Aviation FBO at the Louisville International Airport (SDF). With Churchill Downs approximately 10 minutes away, this is the NetJets-preferred airport. We will have a team of professionals on-site at Atlantic Aviation to ensure that our Owners receive the highest level of service during Derby week. Depending on our Owners’ accommodations, we also fly into Clark Regional Airport (KJVY), which is about 20 minutes north of Churchill Downs. The entire NetJets fleet can fly into Louisville International Airport and Clark Regional Airport with ease.

Travel Tips for Flying to the Kentucky Derby

Ground Transportation
While NetJets is always there to help Owners coordinate ground transportation, it’s especially important during the Kentucky Derby. With the influx of private flights to Louisville, the airport can get quite busy. Our on-site team at SDF coordinates ground transportation to be waiting at Atlantic Aviation. As Owners arrive, our team conveniently ushers them out of the busy FBO and into their appropriate car service.

Best Times to Fly
The Kentucky Derby officially begins Saturday, April 28, but peak arrival time for SDF is expected in the afternoon on Thursday, May 3. The airport handles increased flight volume by opening additional ramp space during Derby week. For departures, some Owners prefer to leave Saturday night, immediately following the race, but most private flights will depart SDF on Sunday morning, May 6. If an Owner prefers to avoid the crowds, we try to schedule the trip outside those time frames.
Between the extravagant hats and the refreshing mint juleps, the Kentucky Derby is full of traditions and excitement. Our goal is to offer a seamless experience for our Owners, allowing them to enjoy the moments that matter most—especially “the most exciting two minutes in sports” at Churchill Downs.
